The Hive

Painted on location at Durant Farm at Red Ridge outside of Dundee Oregon. I worked on this scene over a period of days, trying to capture the bees swarming around the hives and the rows of lavender. Brilliant sun turned to over cast skies and rain, but I still tried to capture that brilliant summer day feeling even in the rain. The damp weather made the paint pool in unexpected ways on this painting, giving it a unique character.
